Sometimes all it takes is a little fun to forget the challenges in life.
That’s the mission the South Dakota Make-A-Wish Foundation hopes to achieve through granting wishes to kids with life-threatening diseases.
Rebecca Culhane didn’t know what to expect when she auditioned via the Internet last year for “American Idol.”
In less than a week, she got a response congratulating her on her advancement to the next round of the television singing competition, but a few typographical errors led her to believe the e-mail was a fake.
“I thought it was junk mail,” Culhane, 25, said Thursday in the living room of her Mitchell home. “Five days later, I received another e-mail saying ‘No, really. Congratulations.’ ”
Fans of Mitchell singer Rebecca Culhane were disappointed they didn’t see her on “American Idol” Thursday night, but there was a video interview of Culhane on the “Idol” website Friday.
It’s been rumored for weeks that Culhane would be featured on the show. She told The Daily Republic recently that she signed a confidentiality agreement that forbids her from speaking about her involvement with the popular FOX program.
A Mitchell resident may perform on “American Idol” tonight.
Rebecca Culhane is a Yankton native who married a Mitchell man and still has a home here. It's rumored she will appear on the show, which begins at 7 p.m.
