Randall Community Water District, which serves the water customers of Davison Rural Water, Letcher, Mount Vernon, Armour, Corsica, Delmont, Geddes, Greenwood, Lake Andes, Marty, Pickstown, Platte, Wagner and YST Housing areas, began routine maintenance on the water system Monday that will continue through mid-December.
Dorothy Jane Vacek, 82, Pickstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Lake Andes. Burial will be in St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery, Lake Andes. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home, Wagner. There will be a 7 p.m. rosary/wake service Sunday at the church.
PICKSTOWN — Fort Randall Casino and Yankton Sioux tribal officials kicked off a $10 million expansion project Monday aimed at making the casino a family destination resort.
Tribal council member Jody Zephier, of Wagner, said afterward that American Indian casinos have gained visitors compared to Las Vegas casinos because more visitors want to stay closer to home. Tribes in Wisconsin are incorporating swimming pools and daycare centers in their casinos.
