As the Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of tourist season arrives, the Mitchell City Council appears ready to move forward with a proposed $1 per night tax on rented rooms at all of the city’s hotels and motels.
Between 10 p.m. May 17 and 9:30 a.m. May 18, three vehicles parked in a parking lot in the 1300 block of South Ohlman Street and in the 1300 block of West Birch Street had their door mirrors vandalized.
The Mitchell High School track team has its sights set on bringing home some hardware this weekend. The Kernels compete today and Saturday at the Class AA track and field state meet, with each of their athletes hoping to be crowned the state’s best.
