ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings appear locked in to one more season at the Metrodome, with a team executive saying the club has no plans to file a notice of relocation with the National Football League ahead of a Wednesday deadline.
Maybe it’s a good thing the Vikings aren’t having a winning season, or this would be a much bigger deal.
The Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants game, postponed until today after the Metrodome roof partially collapsed Sunday morning after the weekend blizzard, may not be shown locally, according to staff members with two local cable companies.
The game will kick off at 6:20 p.m. today. It will be shown on Fox — but perhaps not locally.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — One day after being told by the Minnesota Vikings that extending the lease at the Metrodome was not an option, the team’s landlord made the offer anyway and infuriated the only major tenant left in the stadium.
The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission passed a plan Thursday to offer a two-year extension on the lease, which is set to expire in 2011. It calls for the Vikings to get revenue from any postseason games at the Metrodome, but it also threatens to reinstate a $4 million annual rent if the team does not sign the extension.
Some say a tie is worse than losing.
For Scotland and Tabor Legion baseball players, they wouldn’t agree.
Playing under the bright lights of the Metrodome in Minneapolis Tuesday night, the two teams’ two-hour time limit expired after seven innings, forcing the game to end at 3-3.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — First pitch was still half an hour away and the empty plastic cups, crinkled foil wrappers and peanut shells were already piling up under the blue seats in the Metrodome’s upper deck.
