LETTER: Nation’s leaders no longer true to religions
Nations rise and nations fall, but we are a young nation with more than $15 trillion in debt. By unreliable government statistics, half of all Americans are poor with the percentage increasing.By Rex Alberts , July 27, 2012
LETTER: Storm clouds are gathering over nation
Every time I walk into a grocery store, I realize I live in the greatest country. I have never known anything but abundance. Who can dispute that the free enterprise gets the most out of the individual, and when God blesses us with reasonable weather, our nation knows abundance above all other nations.By Marvin Lau , July 21, 2012
LETTER: Obama violates Constitution with immigration policy
On March 28, 2011, Obama stated there are immigration laws on the books Congress has passed that are very clear on how we have to enforce our immigration system. “That for me to simply through executive order ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as president.”By Donald Hoffman , June 29, 2012

LETTER: Chinese appreciate US farming

LETTER: Think before acting on Palace proposal
The price tag at $35 million seems quite high, especially considering that is just renovations. What would the cost be to simply tear down and reconstruct the entire facility in its place?By Eric Krietlow , March 03, 2012
LETTER: Let women make own bodily decisions
I think it is time for us to face this male passion against women having the nerve to believe they know what to do with their own bodies. Do men really want to have 10-15 kids to support? Neither do women.By Virginia Muirhead , March 03, 2012
LETTER: Palace project would harm city’s taxpayers
The City Council spent thousands of dollars on studies for the “Event Center” a couple of years ago, and the voters overwhelming defeated the “Center” due mainly to a potential property tax increase.By Dale Houchin , February 03, 2012
LETTER: America acting like a kid with credit card
All the news these days is about politics and who is going to run for president. And the rest of the politicians are scrambling to make sure they keep their jobs when they should be working on our economy and our national debt.By John Zilverberg , August 20, 2011
LETTER: Recent tea party cartoon was great
This cartoon of the tea party having Speaker Boehner tied down does deserve to be run twice in the paper. I really got a charge out of it. It says more than words can.By Lee Beeson , August 06, 2011
LETTER: Some pastors stuck in their own dogma
More than Mr. Larry Parvin, I am amazed about the fact that some churches and especially some pastors seem to be really stuck in their own little dogma.By Ray Klink , July 09, 2011
LETTER: Professional needed to manage our city
Government is complicated business. The city of Mitchell runs a $30 million operation with 175 employees, and an organization that size deserves professional management.By State Sen. Mike Vehle, Mitchell , June 04, 2011
Letter: Letter about Oprah itself was ignorant
To the Editor:I read with great interest the letter from Darlene Wadleigh. To call Oprah Winfrey and her audiences ignorant is really “out there.” Apparently, you know nothing of all the good Oprah has done since she overcame a lot of obstacles to get where she is today. Some of the audiences you called “ignorant” have been full of teachers and other heroes. She has helped countless people with her money.

To the Editor:I have written about homosexuality before, but when I read the article by Rev. Kristi McLaughlin, I felt I had to write again.

Letter: MCS recipient of Monsanto donation
To the Editor:Earlier this year, the Mitchell Christian School was fortunate to be the recipient of a $2,500 donation through the Monsanto Fund’s America’s Farmers Grow Communities program. On behalf of the Mitchell Christian School, I want to make farmers in Hanson County aware of the continued program and ask them to tell others about it. One farmer will win the opportunity to designate a non-profit organization to receive the $2,500 donation. Farmers can enter now through Dec. 31.
