WESSINGTON SPRINGS — The superintendent of the Wessington Springs School District has been placed on administrative leave following two drunken driving arrests in less than a year’s time.
School officials declined to say Tuesday if he is on paid or unpaid leave.

The superintendent of the Wessington Springs School District received a suspended imposition of sentence Tuesday in Mitchell for driving with a revoked license, in what appeared to be a case of clerical confusion.
WESSINGTON SPRINGS — The Wessington Springs superintendent who was charged with a misdemeanor driving offense about two weeks after a DUI conviction in Beadle County had his initial appearance continued from Tuesday to March 8.
Lance Witte, 41, was arrested Dec. 10 for driving with a revoked license, according to court records. If convicted, he could face up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine.

KOKK radio reports that Wessington Springs School Superintendent Lance Witte did not appear in court in Huron but made the plea through his attorney.
