South Central, WLP win Region 4B golf titles
After back-and-forth competition with their respective opponents all season, the White Lake/Plankinton boys’ golf team and the South Central girls’ golf team picked up wins when it really counted.
The two teams both won Friday at the Region 4B golf tournament at Lakeview Golf Course.

Kernels take seventh at home invite; Sabers takes 16th
The Mitchell High School girls’ golf team finished a stroke out of sixth and three strokes out of a tie for fourth place Friday at the Mitchell Invite at Lakeview Golf Course.
The Kernels shot a 371 to finish a single stroke behind Rapid City Stevens, which took sixth with a 370. Sioux Falls Washington and Yankton tied for fourth with 368s.

Lakeview and Wild Oak golf courses opened within the last week, and with the above-average temperatures, both courses have already seen plenty of action.

He’s already solicited donations from 150 local businesses or clubs, and he’s walked away with a donation from 95 of them. In sales parlance, that’s a 63 percent closing rate. He has several hundred more people to contact, and he’s already raised $20,000 in donations and pledges to re-establish lawn bowling — yes, lawn bowling — in Mitchell. In addition to the money he has raised himself, he earlier this month snagged a $15,000 appropriation from the City Council.
