Wendy Halweg smiled as her horse, Dually, casually drank out of a white bucket Friday morning at the Horseman’s Sports Arena in Mitchell.
The horse’s mane had been lovingly made into a series of braids. When someone pointed that out, Halweg smiled again.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Faced with legal challenges accusing the government of rounding up too many wild horses in the West, federal land managers released a new aerial survey Friday, claiming it confirms that they left as many mustangs as they intended after a contentious roundup last winter.
With the completion of the Fort Pierre Rodeo behind her, Wendy Halweg made a final check on her horse, Dually, at 4:30 a.m. on the morning of July 5.
Two hours later, she awoke to find the horse gone from the County Fairgrounds.
