A joint city and school committee working on a proposed event/performing arts center in Chamberlain wants to cut costs by reducing the project’s size.
Committee members met Monday with Jerry Claseman and Herm Harms of Puetz Corp. in Mitchell about the project, which would adjoin the high school.
After nearly a week of slow water releases, engineers are opening the taps and levels are dropping on Lake Francis Case.
“The water is starting to recede, which is a real positive thing for us,” Chamberlain City Engineer Greg Powell said Thursday.
Although a few piles of soil and sediment still remain, Chamberlain City Engineer Greg Powell said he’s pleased with the results of a dredging project at American Creek that ended earlier this year.
He’s eager to see work on the creek continue.
“It’s a big improvement,” Powell said. “We’re trying.”
