For the third year in a row, Heidi Seefeldt and her husband Jeremy opened up their Sioux Falls pizza restaurant on Thursday to serve hundreds of meals to residents who couldn’t afford a Thanksgiving dinner or didn’t have anyone to spend the holiday with.
Lloyd Kucker knows as well as anyone the importance of a good meal.
Growing up as the youngest of 19 children, Kucker, now 88, of Mitchell, said “we sometimes had to put cardboard in our shoes, but we always had food on the table.” So when he found that First Lutheran Church was in jeopardy of falling short on its goal to donate 500 boxes of cereal to the Mitchell Food Pantry, he decided to take action.
Kucker went in front of his church with a $100 bill he had planned to use for new boots and asked the congregation to help.
