When Detective Devin Alfson went to give official court testimony this week in the Davison County Public Safety Center, something caught his eye.
It was the tread on the bottom of 18-year-old Christopher Zephier Jr.’s shoes. Alfson recognized it as matching an imprint found at the scene of a vehicle theft earlier this month in Mitchell.
Police are searching for those responsible for vandalizing two parking lots at the Mitchell Senior High School.
The lot’s lights were damaged sometime before 4:21 p.m. Aug. 3. The lights, which are believed to have been shot with a pellet gun or small caliber firearm, received approximately $1,000 in damage.
A duo of masked thieves who targeted a Mitchell convenience store Friday apparently were after beer, not bucks.
Detective Lt. Don Everson, of the Mitchell Police Division, said the two suspects entered Rob’s Short Stop, 215 N. Burr St., at 7:33 p.m. Friday.
