The Mitchell City Council will meet on Tuesday this week due to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday today. Almost all city, county, state and federal offices and schools are closed today in honor of the civil rights leader.
Letting local residents who don’t own land adjacent to Lake Mitchell place a dock and boat lift in the lake is an idea worthy of study, the Mitchell City Council decided Monday night at City Hall.
The issue was discussed by the Lake Mitchell Advisory Committee last week and then brought to the council to see if it should proceed.
Discussion of an arena proposal will likely be a highlight of this evening’s Mitchell City Council meeting at City Hall.
At the council’s last meeting, March 2, the Events Center Building Committee unveiled the design of a 5,280-seat arena with an estimated construction cost of $15 million. No funding package or location has been proposed.
Tonight’s agenda includes a time for discussion of the arena design shortly after the council’s 7:30 call to order.
