The general consensus is that Don Boyden will be a tough act to follow.
Mitchell Rotary Club President Geri Beck said Boyden will officially retire as the service club’s secretary-treasurer this year after 27 years in the position. Dick Rozum will take over his job, and Boyden will continue as the club’s executive secretary, she said.
Chris Paustian almost didn’t go to the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce and Mitchell Area Development Corporation’s annual awards and recognition banquet Friday night.
But his wife, Sandi, talked him into it and, after receiving the Community Service Award, he was glad she did.
‘Trees’ initiative has damaging wording
To the Editor:
I read with interest a letter to the editor written by former Mayor Alice Claggett, and it’s quite obvious she has not read the initiative that will be on the ballot (Nov. 2 for Mitchell voters). If she had, she is not telling the general public the consequences should this ballot measure pass.
Chris Paustian considers himself a lucky guy.
Two months after a stroke numbed his left side, he’s already up and moving.
Paustian, 68, retired in June 2008 after serving nearly 24 years as president of Mitchell Technical Institute. Mitchell Superintendent of Schools Joe Graves dubbed Paustian “Mr. MTI” for his dedication and tireless leadership. Trips to doctors’ offices and physical therapy were not how Paustian envisioned spending his retirement.
