Herseth Sandlin is ‘S.D. to the core’
To the Editor:
We’ve heard it said that Stephanie Herseth Sandlin has departed from her South Dakota roots. We don’t believe it. The other day, when our dog got loose, who helped us round him up? Our neighbor, South Dakota’s very own congresswoman.
Having Stephanie as a neighbor means that we can find her and her husband, Max, playing with their son, Zachary, in the back yard. In the evenings, on our way to bed, there she is washing dishes in her kitchen window.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson could lose his driver’s license after police clocked him driving at 109 mph — nearly twice the posted speed limit — on a suburban Minneapolis highway last weekend.
Peterson told The Associated Press on Thursday that he “got a little speeding ticket. I need to be more aware of the speed I was going and not let it happen again.”
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Adrian Peterson’s latest television commercial features the running back juking, stiff-arming and leapfrogging his way through a defense on his way to the end zone.
He trudges off the field after the improbable run, leaving an overmatched and humbled batch of defenders in his wake, then sits in front of his locker. He removes his helmet and pads, revealing an otherworldly skin that takes on the shape and texture of the padding that made him impervious and unstoppable on the field.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Brett Favre skipped a full summer of workouts and the two most grueling weeks of training camp practices while trying to decide if he could make it through a 19th season in the NFL.
Ever since he signed with the Minnesota Vikings last week, the 39-year-old has openly admitted it will likely take time to earn the respect of his teammates and assimilate into a locker room that had been working with Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.
