Other veteran sheriffs also leaving office
KENNEBEC — Back when Don Manger first started in law enforcement, he used notebooks, batons and carried a .38-caliber Smith and Wesson gun.A decade into the 21st century, computers, .40-caliber automatic Glocks and Tasers are the tools or weapons of choice.
Manger, 69, who has spent 35 years in law enforcement, is trading his career for the leisure of a fishing pole and an old 1957 Chevy to restore. He was elected Lyman County sheriff in fall 1998.

Lyman Co. clerk office in flux after termination
KENNEBEC — Lyman County residents, law enforcement officials and a prosecutor wanting to do business at the county clerk of court’s office in Kennebec have had difficulty doing so this month. Though clerk of courts offices are in county courthouses, such employees are under the state’s control.January 26, 2011
