LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson’s doctor was convicted Monday of involuntary manslaughter in the pop star’s death for supplying an insomnia-plagued Jackson with a powerful operating-room anesthetic to help him sleep as he rehearsed for his big comeback.
The widow of a local man killed by an allegedly texting driver told a jury Tuesday that a visual reminder of the accident is always painfully nearby.
The accident occurred so close to the family’s home that Jon Christensen’s body ended up in the family’s driveway.
“I can see the site of the accident from my window,” said Christensen’s widow, Janean.
SCOTLAND — A Scotland man was charged Wednesday with killing his infant son.
Chris A. Miller, 37, was initially charged with felony child abuse and aggravated assault of a child younger than 3 years of age for a Friday incident in Scotland, but when the infant died Wednesday afternoon, Miller was charged with alternate counts of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and manslaughter in the first degree.
For some, the Dec. 4 accidental and fatal shooting in Mitchell brought back painful memories of a similar incident from 12 years ago.
For a retired local police officer, it was yet another reminder of the incompatibility of alcohol and guns.
A Mitchell police lieutenant said the 21-year-old Mitchell Technical Institute student charged with first-degree manslaughter in the death of his friend and fellow student intentionally pulled the trigger of the weapon at the time of the shooting.
