Stephanie Herseth Sandlin said her decision to take a job with a lobbying law firm in the nation’s capital is a logical next step in her life and career.Herseth Sandlin, a Democrat who was defeated in a bid for a fourth full U.S. House term from South Dakota last fall, has joined Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz PC (OFW Law), in Washington, D.C. The firm said in a press release announcing Herseth Sandlin’s addition that it is “the leading law firm in agriculture and FDA regulated matters.”

Wounded congresswoman is friend of Herseth Sandlin's
Former Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin is a close friend of the Arizona congresswoman shot and critically wounded Saturday. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., was shot during a meeting with constituents Saturday in Tuscon, Ariz. Six people were killed and 14 wounded. Giffords remains in critical condition. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin has missed 17 votes in the waning days of her term in the U.S. House.The Democratic congresswoman, whose last full day in office is today, skipped the votes during the final days of the 2011 session, which concluded in December. Herseth Sandlin missed single votes on Dec. 17 and 22. She missed seven votes on Dec. 17 and eight more on Dec. 21.
