America has a real opportunity to create more than 130,000 new jobs and pump billions of dollars into our economy at no cost to taxpayers.
It’s a solution with which South Dakotans are familiar, one that has already injected new revenue, new hope and a new sense of purpose into rural communities across the state and nation.
That solution is ethanol.
I want to say from the outset that I have an unquestionably vested interest in having the swimming pool at the middle school remain open. Because of that pool I have an opportunity to work with some of the finest young people that Mitchell has to offer in my position as head coach of the Mitchell Aquatic Club. In short, because of the indoor pool, I have a job.
Did anyone tell you 18 years ago you would graduate from high school amidst the worst economic downturn since your grandparents were young?
So, what now? Delay college until the economic storm clouds pass, try to find work, postpone your dreams?
Whatever you do, don’t give up on your dreams or postpone college. Now, you might expect a college president to make self-serving remarks like these. But could it be that attending college this fall is in your best interest?
