Thanksgiving is a special time of year to be with loved ones and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. While most families are fortunate enough to have plenty of food, especially on Thanksgiving, there are many individuals in our state and around the country that suffer from hunger.
MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25 and 26, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes will end at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, and resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30.
Thanksgiving Day weekend marks the beginning of a month-long holiday travel season, and South Dakota Highway Safety officials are reminding motorists to put safety first as they make plans to spend time with family and friends.
Matt Heesch, of Mitchell, was the winner of the annual Turkey Trot road race Thursday in Mitchell.
Heesch — who has competed for Augustana College in the national cross country meet — was the overall winner with a course time 16:25.
