PUC sets public hearing on PrairieWinds project
PIERRE — The state Public Utilities Commission has another big wind project to consider. This time it’s a vast grid of 101 wind turbines proposed for the central South Dakota counties of Aurora, Jerauld and Brule.Known as PrairieWinds, the wind farm would produce 151.5 megawatts of electricity, according to plans filed by Basin Electric Power Cooperative.
The PUC has siting-permit authority over wind projects of 100 megawatts or larger.
