Eight Tigers earn all-GPAC honors
The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team landed eight all-Great Plains Athletic Conference selections, it was announced Thursday.
The Tigers, who won at least 32 games for the second straight season in 2010, tied a GPAC-era school record by placing four players on the all-GPAC first team. Four other players were named to the honorable-mention team.

Hastings College did everything it could to keep its improbable run through the Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball tournament going in Saturday’s championship game.
The Broncos, who had to win their last eight regular-season games to even qualify for the conference tournament, almost came back from a six-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Northwestern held on to finish its own Cinderella-like run.

Before his junior year of college, Casey Solem had never even heard of Dakota Wesleyan University.
After graduating from high school in his hometown of East Grand Forks, Minn., in 2005, Solem played one season of baseball at Valley City State University and one at Northland Community and Technical College before transferring to the University of North Dakota.

Heading into its final four games of the regular season, the Dakota Wesleyan baseball team was in control of its own destiny.
The Tigers had swept their way into a three-way tie for first place in the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular-season standings, and their final two games of the year were against two in-state rivals who also happened to be a part of that tie for first.
