CUSTER — The January 2013 meeting of the Black Hills National Forest Advisory Board is scheduled for Jan. 2 at the Forest Service Mystic Ranger District Office, 8221 S. Highway 16, Rapid City, S.D., 57702. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and end no later than 5 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
RAPID CITY (AP) — The Black Hills National Forest plans to use extensive commercial tree thinning to battle the mountain pine beetle as part of a $70 million plan that will take five to seven years to implement.
PIERRE (AP) — An organization representing state governments across the nation has given an award to South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard's plan to fight the mountain pine beetle infestation in the Black Hills.
SPEARFISH (AP) — Western South Dakota's Meade County has signed a cooperative agreement with the Northern Hills Ranger District in hopes of battling mountain pine beetles within the county, including at Veteran's Peak and Deadman Mountain.
