Co-chairman says cooperation needed for many Quality of Place ideas
A new indoor aquatic center is needed in Mitchell, says a subcommittee of the long-range planning group Focus 2020. Eyesores throughout the community should be fixed and the lake should undergo a rigorous process to rid it of the green algae that settles in it each summer.But to accomplish these and other recommendations made by Focus 2020’s Quality of Place subcommittee, cooperation between entities is essential, said Noel Hamiel, a subcommittee co-chairman.

Local panel endorses changes for City Council, County Commission
A long-range planning group is suggesting six changes for the Davison County Commission and seven for the Mitchell City Council, including the adoption of home-rule charters and the hiring of a “county mayor” and city manager.The recommendations were issued Monday by Focus 2020’s Government Structures Subcommittee. Focus 2020 is a volunteer group that has worked to develop a long-range plan for Mitchell and the immediate region.
