South Dakota State University seeks to begin offering a nursing-degree program at Northern State University in Aberdeen, while Northern State wants to expand its banking and financial services degree program further in Rapid City and Pierre.
PIERRE — The state Board of Regents took its political road show to the campus of Capital University Center on Tuesday evening as part of an effort to improve public support for better funding of South Dakota’s public universities.
PIERRE — The latest round of proficiency tests at South Dakota’s state universities found that nearly one in 10 sophomores couldn’t post acceptable scores in their first tries in at least one or more of the subject areas of reading, writing, math and science reasoning.
A total of 4,810 students took the tests for their first times during the 2009-2010 academic year. Students who don’t reach the qualifying scores must take remediation work in the areas where they fell short, and retake the test in those areas the next academic year.
