LAS VEGAS — South Dakota’s Lisa Lockhart finished third in the average and fifth in the world standings, and fellow South Dakotan Nikki Steffes finished fifth in the average and ninth in the world standings in barrel racing at the recent conclusion of the National Finals Rodeo.
South Dakota residents Lisa Lockhart and Nikki Steffes are in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the barrel racing event at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nev., through seven go-rounds.
Barrel racing goes 10 rounds and is one of eight events at the WNFR, also known as the Super Bowl of rodeo.
As great comebacks go, Dually makes Rocky look like a small-timer.
After strong performances in the South Dakota Rodeo Association finals last weekend in Rapid City, Dually and his owner Wendy Halweg Bechen, of Rapid City, formerly of Mitchell, are the state’s top barrel racing team.
