DWU gets first win at national tournament since 1947 POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team finally ended its national tournament slump early Thursday morning. The No. 7 Tigers, making their fourth-straight appearance at the NAIA national tournament, beat McPherson College (Kan.), 79-66, in Wednesday’s last first-round game on the College of the Ozarks campus in Point Lookout, Mo.

DWU hoping for first national tourney win since 1947 today against McPherson College The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team has already had an incredibly successful season. The Tigers set a school record with 27 wins and are 27-5 overall. They also set a school record with 16 Great Plains Athletic Conference wins, and went 16-2 in the conference.

Late this past summer, rumors started circulating that Dakota Wesleyan men’s basketball coach John Hemenway had recruited a player out of Arizona that he was pretty darn excited about. The Tigers had two scholarship spots open up in early August and Hemenway started working immediately to fill those slots.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Jordan Harer’s bid for a second straight All-American title came to an end Friday afternoon. The Dakota Wesleyan senior wrestler dropped a 6-4 decision to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Mitch Newcomer in the consolation bracket, ending his national tournament run.

He shot six field goals — five from 3-point range — and missed all of them. In Tuesday’s title game, Walder made up for those misses.

Last year, the Dakota Wesleyan University softball team had 13 names on its roster. This year, the Tigers are down to 12 softball players, but head coach Marie McCarthy-Foster says she thinks her team will fare better this year, even with the smaller numbers.

Good evening from St. Joseph, Mo. Just pulled into the Super 8 right off I29 about 20 minutes ago. I left amidst a small blizzard (and had to drive about 35 until I hit Salem) and now it's 40 degrees. A cool 40 degrees, but no snow in sight and the weather forecast for tomorrow calls for mid 50

McPherson and Dakota Wesleyan have two common opponents, though I'm not sure how helpful these scores are at measuring the two teams against each other. The Bulldogs played Hastings college twice this season. They beat the Bronc

All right, folks, this is it. Tournament time! I have been excited about this game since DWU won the GPAC tournament title last week, so I'm getting pretty antsy for the 9:45 p.m. tipoff. In an effort to make the time go by a little quicker, I thought I'd share a thought or two with everyone.
