Mabel Marie Bradford, 91, Bonesteel, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at her home in Bonesteel.Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clausen Funeral Home, Burke. She was born on Oct. 17, 1919, in Wisconsin to Guy and Gertrude McGinnley. She graduated from high school in Monroe, Wis.

Hanson, Avon clash in Week 2 of 2010 football schedule 
The Avon football team will get its chance at redemption when it plays Hanson at the Beavers’ new stadium in the second week of the regular season this fall.
That is one of the highlighted area matchups on the high school football schedule for the year. The football schedules were recently posted on the South Dakota High School Association’s website.

ABERDEEN — The defending champion Platte-Geddes boys’ golf team is in third place after the first day of the Class B boys’ state golf tournament Monday at Moccasin Creek in Aberdeen.
Led by Shay Nelson’s 6-over-par 78, the Black Panthers shot a team total of 246.

Winner boys, girls win Region 7A titles 
WINNER — The Winner boys’ and girls’ track and field teams each claimed Region 7A titles Thursday in Winner.
The girls racked up 205.5 points, which was better than Platte-Geddes’ 173 in second. South Central took third.
On the boys’ side, the Warriors finished with 231 points and Platte-Geddes took second with 185.

Adam Mikkelsen, Sid Eagle Star, Nate Schmitz and Aaron Schmitz all made the all-conference team for the Gorillas.

Parkston native leads Sooners to Big 12 title 
Parkston native Alex Muntefering, a freshman on the Oklahoma track and field team, earned all-Big 12 honors after finishing eighth in the 1,000-meter run at the Big 12 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Ames, Iowa, on Feb. 26-27.
Muntefering finished in a time of 2:30.67 helping the Sooners to their 18th conference title in school history.
