Galbraith, Winner down Chamberlain

CHAMBERLAIN — Winner led by six, 19-13, at halftime, but outscored Chamberlain 34-10 in the second half to pull way for a 53-23 win Saturday in Chamberlain. Sharee Galbraith led all scorers with 15 points for Winner and she also had a game-high 11 rebounds. The Warriors were 16-for-45 from the field, 17-for-25 from the line and had 28 rebounds. Frankie Willard had seven points and Jaymee Knippling had eight rebounds to lead the Cubs, who were 7-for-32 from the field, 8-for-13 from the line and had 29 rebounds.

Area basketball: Glanzer leads MCHS in 55-38 win over Plankinton

PLANKINTON — Becca Glanzer went 15-of-18 from the free-throw line to help the Mitchell Christian girls’ basketball team to a 55-38 Custer Battlefield Highway Conference win Thursday night. Glanzer hit one basket and finished with 17 points. Mackenzie Van Laecken added 15 points for the Golden Eagles and Alexa Van Laecken had 14 points and eight rebounds. The Golden Eagles shot 20-of-30 from the line while Plankinton went 5-of-16.

McCook Central/Montrose rolls past Parkston PARKSTON — The McCook Central/Montrose boys’ basketball team led 36-19 after the first half and never looked back in a 67-33 rout of Parkston Monday night. Mark Holz led the Fighting Cougars with 12 points. Jay Holz and Shane Gottlob each had 10. Gottlob also had six rebounds and six assists. McCook Central/Montrose was 27-of-68 from the field and 12-of-15 from the line.

Menno led 39-30 heading into the final quarter, but Ethan outscored the Wolves 18-8 to pull ahead for the win.

COLOME — Alisyn Graesser scored 15 points, including the 1,000th of her career, helping Colome beat Jones County 43-33 Tuesday night in a high school girls’ basketball game in Colome. Collene Cahoy added nine rebounds for the Cowgirls, who won despite shooting only 14-for-52 (27 percent) from the field. Colome hit 14 of 23 free throws and had a 32-20 advantage in rebounding.

Hanson routs Parkston PressPass

Hanson routs Parkston PARKSTON — The Hanson boys’ basketball team shot a red-hot 52 percent from the field Monday in a 62-29 win over Parkston. Pierce Smith led all scorers with 15 points, while Trevor Doyle had 11 points and seven rebounds and Andrew Gross had 10 points. Hanson was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line and won the rebounding battle, 27-20. For Parkston, Chance Roth had seven points and Lucas Holden had six. Tanner Weber led the team with four rebounds. The Trojans were 12-of-40 from the field, 3-of-10 from the line and had 27 turnovers. Hanson — which won the JV game — is 5-1 and plays Mount Vernon Friday in Alexandria, while Parkston is searching for its first win. The Trojans play Freeman today in Parkston.
