Don’t judge; look beyond book’s cover
To the Editor:
Recently it has been brought to my attention that my appearance has compelled some parents to make the closed-minded decision to not allow their children to be taught by me.
I am a senior at Dakota Wesleyan University with hopes to be a high school English teacher. At first, I almost let these comments force me to rethink my career path, but decided that to be ridiculous.

Rozum’s legacy continues to this day
To the Editor:
Dance performances will take place at the Corn Palace soon with much excitement, glittering costumes and photos being taken. It makes me think of my childhood dancing and twirling a baton under the direction of Sally Rozum.
She was remarkable and still lives in Mitchell.

We have known Gordon Howie for many years. He is an entrepreneur. He owns a real-estate business and is a rancher. He knows how to manage a budget.
He is pro-guns. He is pro-life. He is pro-family values. He is pro-God. He is pro-less government invasion in our lives and businesses.
Is he perfect? Probably not.

Letter: Give dispatchers pat on back next week
To the Editor: Most citizens notice it when dedicated firefighters, law enforcement officers and EMTs respond to disaster and emergency situations. However, most people probably are unaware of the work of an equally dedicated and skilled group of men and women who are essential to any first response.
