Letters to the Editor
City Council should listen to opinionsTo the Editor: I was in attendance at the last City Council meeting. I was one of the “save the trees” people, as we have been called. Bear in mind, I was not actually in the room. There were just too many of us to fit. Here are a couple of points not covered since.

Letter: He asks only that we believe in Him
To the Editor: Our government has resisted most of what our republic was started for, Obamacare being the most recent. Once upon a time we the people were respected and the result meant something. Letter: More access to alcohol is bad
To the Editor: Selling alcohol all night and on Christmas and Memorial Day may be doomed like making it illegal for 14- and 15-year-olds to text while driving. More access to alcohol will always cause more problems — worse than tobacco.By Rex Alberts , March 12, 2010
Letter: Questioning ‘God the Father’
To the Editor:Why is this “God the Father?” Is this the same God who comes and impregnates young virgins? Jesus was an illegitimate child. This God fathered Jesus, and then sentenced Him to a horrific death. Jesus was a victim. This father did not raise Jesus. His father was a deadbeat. Is this “God the Father” to be listened to?

Letter: Consult physician and avoid cancer 
To the Editor:It is one year ago, as if Feb. 23, that our daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer. Shelly was 28 years old and seven months pregnant at the time.

Letter: Declare wooded lot as park space
To the Editor: I watched with interest the City Council meeting (on The Daily Republic’s Web site) in regard to the lake lot lined with trees. I am not a Lake Mitchell resident; I live downtown. Until the recent debate began, I, like many people, assumed this property was private and have never entered the property.

Letter: Many questions about district policies, decisions
To the Editor:On Feb. 24, The Daily Republic quoted Supt. Joe Graves saying “The process to eliminate gymnastics is…a pretty simple one…I would take a recommendation to the board…if the board approves it, we’re off to the races.” When will gymnastics equipment be declared surplus property so it can be donated to the gymnastics club?
