Area athletes win Knights of Columbus state free-throw contest By The Daily Republic CHAMBERLAIN — Three area youth athletes won state titles at the South Dakota Knights of Columbus state free throw contest earlier this month. The event was held March 3 at the St. Joseph’s Indian School gymnasium. Forty-three boys and girls, ages 10-14, throughout the state competed against their peers in the same age group for the top five or six places.

USD women’s basketball team makes WBI semifinals VERMILLION (AP) — The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team has moved into the semifinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. The Coyotes beat Lamar 71-48 in the quarterfinals on Sunday. USD will host a semifinal matchup with McNeese State on Thursday night. If the Coyotes win they will play at either Pennsylvania or Detroit in the championship next weekend.
