Maynard Huether, Tripp

Maynard A. Huether, Tripp, 72, Tripp, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Sturgis.

He was born on May 27, 1940.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Frieden’s Reformed Church, Tripp, with the Rev. Greg Way officiating.

Burial will be in Frieden’s Cemetery, Tripp, with military graveside rites by Jelkin-Harms American Legion Post No. 142 of Tripp, and the S.D. Army National Guard Military Funeral Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Goglin Funeral Home, Tripp. There will be a 7 p.m. prayer service today at the church.

Organist is Shelly FInck with special music by the Clearfield Colony Women’s Choir. Casket bearers are Glen Vogel, Dennis Huether, William Schoenfish, Myron Holzworth, Gregg Huether and Vaughn Huether.

Maynard Andrew Huether and his twin brother, Mynard, were born on the family farm near Tripp to Ludwig and Emma (Stoebner) Huether.

Maynard grew up in Tripp and graduated from Tripp High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to1964.

Maynard married Darla Weiderrich on Jan. 24, 1970, and together they raised three children: Kevin, Kelly and Stacie Huether.

Later divorced from Darla, Maynard met Ivy Ross, who was his special friend for the final 16 years of his life.

With his love for warm weather, Maynard spent most summers in Tripp and winters in Mesa, Ariz.

A salesman at heart with a vivacious gift of gab, he used his talent as a salesman, an auctioneer and auction owner, and finished his career with his true passion of selling veggies and working flea markets.

Maynard was sure to leave a lasting impression on anyone he encountered and throughout his years he never met a stranger.

Maynard enjoyed socializing, spending time with family and friends, playing cards, marbles and collecting horses.

Survivors include two sons: Kevin (Carol) Huether, Rapid City; and Kelly (Michelle) Huether, Tampa, Fla.; a daughter Stacie Huether, Missoula, Montana; six grandchildren: Matt, Myles, Kayla, Brandie, Kelly and Riley; two expected twin great-grandchildren; two brothers: Melvin (Ardina) Huether and Roger (Karen) Huether, all of Tripp; three sisters: Bernice Schoenfish, Menno; Velda Holzwarth, Freeman; and Fran Vogel, Sioux Falls; and numerous in-laws, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Mynard Huether; and parents: Ludwig and Emma Huether.
