She was born on June 3, 1932.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.
Alice Marie (Selland) Christensen was born in Chamberlain to Oscar and Jeanette (Grindeland) Selland.
She grew up in the Presho area and attended country school through the seventh grade.
On Oct. 5, 1957, she married Joe Christensen in Spencer at St. Mathews Lutheran Church.
Together, they raised six children and made their home in Spencer until 2010, when they moved to Green Leaf Assisted Living in Sioux Falls.
The couple were married 54 years until Joe’s death in October 2011.
Alice spent most of her married life as a housewife, mother and keeping her husband, Joe, in line. Alice loved having guests in her home to play cards, cook large meals for and celebrate birthdays and holidays.
She especially looked forward to having all of her children and grandchildren home for Christmas.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Joe (Jill) Christensen, Arlington, Dennis Christensen, Lake Geneva, Fla., Kathy (Mike) Balding, Holmen, Wis., Linda Christensen, Mitchell, and Jason (Fundie Adajar) Christensen, Roswell, N.M.; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Janice (Dave) Moore, Vivian; a sister-in-law, Janice Selland, Kimball; and many dear relatives and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Christensen; a son, Bob; an infant daughter, Emma; her parents, Oscar and Jeanette Selland; two brothers: Cliff and Knute; and three sisters, Evelyn, Bertha and Charlotte.
