Donald Bruns, 82, Spencer, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Dougherty Hospice, Sioux Falls.
Donald Bruns, 82, Spencer, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Dougherty Hospice, Sioux Falls.
He was born on Oct. 25, 1930.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. Burial will be in Kayser Cemetery, rural Emery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hettinger-Bittner Funeral Chapel, Emery.
He was born to Herman and Gertrude (Marquardt) Bruns in Spencer.
He grew up and attended school in Spencer.
He worked with his dad in the produce business until being drafted into the service during the Korean War.
On Feb. 20, 1955, he married Leatrice Burnham.
Don owned Bruns Plumbing and Electric for numerous years and then was a full-time mail carrier until retiring in January 1994.
Don and Leatrice loved to travel and he was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Leatrice, Edgewood Vista, Sioux Falls; one daughter, Beth (Greg) Kayser, Emery; one sister, Marge Voigt, Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Brad; two sisters: Helen and Ona; and a brother, Darwin “Bud.”
