Verla B. Lehman, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Redfield.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1923.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Olive Presbyterian Church, Platte. Burial will be in Platte City Cemetery, Platte.
Arrangements are by Koehn Brothers Funeral Home, Parkston.
Verla Berdette Cole was born near Armour, to Glen and Violet (Mohr) Cole.
She grew up on farms in the Armour, Platte and Kimball area.
Verla graduated from Kimball High School in 1941 and attended Mitchell Business College for one year. She worked in California during World War II.
Verla married Russell Charles Lehman on Nov. 11, 1945, near White Lake. Verla and Russ lived in Mitchell and Watertown, before moving to Delmont in 1979.
They purchased the historic Onion House and Verla opened a clothing store named The Clothes Horse on the first floor of their home. Verla moved to Parkston in 2003, and later to Redfield.
Verla is survived by her three children: Karlene (Gene) Stellmacher of Tulare; Kevin (Cathy) Lehman of Brookings; and Davis (Heather) Lehman of Dallas, Texas; six granddaughters; two grandsons, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Myron Cole of Platte.
Verla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Russell in 1985; and a sister-in-law Reta Cole in 2012.
