James Swanson, Brooklyn Center, Minn.

James “Jim” Swanson, 80, Brooklyn Center, Minn., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.

He was born on July 2, 1932.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Spiritual Life Church, Brooklyn Center.

He was born at Wessington Springs.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; son, Alan (Shashi) Swanson; daughter, Rita (Kevin) Skar; and three grandchildren, all of Minneapolis: one brother, John (Mary) Swanson, Wessington Springs; and one sister, Helen Cluts, Sioux Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gene Swanson; one sister, Myrna Geisinger; and a niece, Gretchen Tolman.
