Arnold Dalldorf, 73, Platte, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.
He was born on July 28, 1939,
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Platte. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Platte.
Mount Funeral Home, Platte, is assisting with arrangements.
Arnold David Dalldorf was born to William and Gertrude (Berkemier) Dalldorf in Bijou Hills.
He completed his education through the eighth grade.
He was united in marriage to Harriet Gustad on June 15, 1960, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball.
He owned and operated Carquest Auto Parts in Platte.
Arnold was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, served on the Platte City Council, was an avid hunter of deer, pheasant, grouse and turkey — processing the meat to share with others.
He liked fishing, camping, spending time in “The Hills” in a cabin for family vacations, fixing things and attending daily Happy Hour at GG’s.
He enjoyed wandering in his car and going on motorcycle rides, as well as taking trips to visit his children in Colorado.
Grateful for having shared in Arnold’s life: his wife of more than 52 years, Harriet Dalldorf, Platte; their five children: Patti (Chick) Cavallero, Jim (Shannon) Dalldorf, and Jackie (Clyde) McCann, all of Loveland, Colo.; John (Nida) Dalldorf, Milbank; and Penny Overweg, Mitchell; 11 grandchildren: Ricky and Scott Dalldorf; Nick, Nathan and Jenna McCann; Charlie and Jeremy Dalldorf; and Tanner, Parker, Dawson and Kassie Overweg; a sister, Anna Reimer, White Lake; along with several nieces and nephews.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Billy and Joe Dalldorf.
Memorials in Arnold’s honor may be directed to Dougherty Hospice House, 4509 S. Prince of Peace Place, Sioux Falls, S.D. 57103.
