Irene Olson, 87, Stickney, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at her home.

She was born April 3, 1925.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Memorials are preferred and are to be made in Irene’s name to the Stickney Fire Department.

She was born in rural Kimball to John and Mabel (Bennett) Magnuson. She grew up in the Plano and Fulton areas and attended Plano School.

On July 17, 1944, she married Marvin Olson in Mitchell. They farmed in Hanson County their entire lives. Marvin died in 1996 and then in 1997 Irene moved to Mitchell.

In September 2000 she moved to Stickney to be near her family.

She is survived by her two daughters: Janice Schunk and Bunny (Dan) Schumacher, Stickney; four grandchildren: Janelle and Kirk Schunk, Minneapolis; Kristy Lasiter and August Schumacher, Stickney; three great-grandchildren: Eric (Sara) Vevange, Covington, Ga.; Lacey Harwell, Minneapolis; Adam Lasiter, Stickney; one great-great-granddaughter, Vera Vevange, two sisters: Avis Lassegard, Rapid City; Clara Beardsley, N.C.; two brothers: Jay (Marjorie) Magnuson, Black Hawk; Earl (Clarissa) Magnuson, Ore., and a daughter-in-law, Louise Flisram, Winner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, son Dalen “Dillon” and one brother, Gunnar.
