Marie Parce, Mitchell

Marie Parce, 96, Mitchell, formerly of Letcher, died Monday Dec. 10, 2012, at Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.

She was born on June 16, 1916.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Letcher Community Church with burial in Sunset Cemetery in Mitchell.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.

Marie Parce, daughter of Frank and Margaret (Parquet) Parce, was born on the family farm in rural Letcher.

She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Letcher. Marie graduated salutatorian from Letcher High School.

After her schooling, Marie helped on the family farm. She became a resident at Firesteel Healthcare Center in March 2012.

She was a member of the Letcher UCC Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang. In her earlier years, she played the soprano saxophone.

Grateful for having shared her life are her brother, Homer Parce, Letcher; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: David and Irven; a sister-in-law, Gladys; and her niece’s husband, John Stange.
