Ilene Moody, 92, Mitchell, formerly of Letcher, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.

Ilene Moody, 92, Mitchell, formerly of Letcher, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.

She was born on April 7, 1920.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mitchell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service.

Ilene (Steckel) Moody was born at Mitchell to George and Bessie (Justra) Steckel.

She graduated from Mitchell High School.

She married Charles Moody on Feb. 17, 1941, at Letcher.

They made their home northeast of Letcher, where they were blessed with two daughters.

They moved to Mitchell.

Later, Ilene moved to Countryside Living and she was a resident of Firesteel Heath Care Center in Mitchell at the time of her death.

Ilene enjoyed crocheting, bingo and traveling. She was an active member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Letcher and later joined Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell.

She is survived by her two daughters: Joanne (Gus) Nelson; and Judy (Darrell) Olson, all of Letcher; six grandchildren: Rick (Linda) Nelson, Wendi (Chuck) Peer, Sue (Bob) Severson, Teresa Nelson and friend Brent, Lori (Justin) Dean, and Troy (Amy) Olson; 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Frances Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Florence Hanson; one brother, Albert Steckel; and one great-grandson, Ryley Peer.

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Ilene Moody. My deepest condolences to the family. She was married to my cousin Charlie Moody and I always thought she was such a kind and graceful person. She will no doubt be missed by all her family. Blessings Norma Brink
