Vada Church, 100, Mitchell, died Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Vada Faye Church was born December 7, 1911, at Scotland, SD to Jacob and Mary Hofer. She grew up and attended school at Scotland and graduated from Scotland High School.
On February 26, 1932, she married Pearle J. “Bud” Church at Scotland. They moved to Mitchell where she was employed by Glen Denning Equipment and for 36 years was a bookkeeper for General Motors Equipment Company. She attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and enjoyed gardening and sewing. Her life revolved around her family which she dearly loved.
She will be missed immensely and is survived by her daughter Rosemary Wisner of Mitchell, three grandchildren: David Wisner of Mitchell; Marilee Wisner of Mitchell; Rosalie Bell of Sioux Falls; three great grandchildren: Heather (Sam) Butterfield, Peter Bell, Stephen Bell and one step great grandchild, Kristina (Julian) Bell-Leonard, seven nieces and two nephews.
The youngest of twelve children, she was preceded in death by her eleven brothers and sisters: Otilia Goetzfried, Elizabeth Bennett, Clementine Goetzfried, Frank Hofer, Bill Hofer, Martin Hofer, Joachim Hofer, Joseph Hofer, Robert Hofer, two infant sisters, one great granddaughter, Katlheen Bell and her son-in-law, Joseph Wisner.
