Lawrence Howard Brink, 87, Mitchell, formerly of Plankinton, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab, Mitchell.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1924.
Funeral services will be at 10 a m Saturday at United Methodist Church, Plankinton, with the Revs. Dick Salmonson and Rev. Jeff Lathrop officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Mizpah Cemetery, Plankinton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Arrangements are with Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.
He was born near Platte to John and Nancy (Westerhouse) Brink.
He grew up and attended school in the Platte area.
He joined the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. After serving his country, he settled in Plankinton, working at Anderson Furniture where he met his wife of 60 years, Carol Fay Olson.
In the early 1950s, he went to work for Standard Oil Company and served the Plankinton area for more than 40 years.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his three children: Steve and wife Kathy, Mitchell; Judy Keller, Mitchell; and David and wife Peggy, Farmington, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three brothers: Gerrit, Bob and Darold.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters and an infant granddaughter.
