Jessie M. Willhoite, 107, Mitchell, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.

Jessie M. Willhoite, 107, Mitchell, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1905.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Jessie Cottingham, daughter of Perren and Jessie Myrtle (Frost) Cottingham, was born in Sisseton.

She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1925, and then graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in 1928.

Jessie was employed as a nurse at Methodist Hospital in Mitchell and later was the health nurse at the School of Nursing in Mitchell.

She retired in 1975 at the age of 70.

Jessie was united in marriage with Vernon Willhoite on April 2, 1940, in Mitchell.

She was a member of Mitchell Christian Church.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter-in-law, Paula Cottingham, Sioux City, Iowa; two grandchildren, Robert (Tamara) Cottingham, Sioux City; and Catherine (Lowell) Moore, Denver; five great-grandchildren: Joel (Brandi) Kloppel, Fort Lewis, Wash.; Jordan (Cathy) Kloppel, Westminister, Colo.; Jessica (Michael) Hardwicke, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Shay Cottingham, Sioux City, Iowa; and Robert Cottingham IV, Avondale, Ariz.; three great-great-grandchildren: Elise Kloppel, Westminister, Colo.; Nyssa Kloppel, Fort Lewis, Wash.; and Lyric Wagner, Sioux City, Iowa; a special nephew, Clyde (Alice) Lehman, Mitchell; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her son, Robert; her parents, two sisters: Ruth Simmons and Bertha Kingsley; and five brothers: Robert, Phillip, Perren, Frank and Jim.

Jessie was the sweetest lady ever. We all enjoyed visiting with her and my mother Arlyce really loved having her for a roomate. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
