Jane Strong, Mitchell

Jane V. Strong, 61, Mitchell, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, as the result of an automobile accident.

She was born on March 24, 1951.

Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene, Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.

Jane V. Wolinski, daughter of Leo and Lucyle (Petersen) Wolinski, was born in Farwell, Neb.

She began her schooling in Nebraska, and at the age of 11, moved with her family to Mitchell.

Jane attended school in Mitchell, later at the Plankinton School and then at the Hopper School in rural Plankinton.

She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969.

She then received her nursing degree from the Methodist School of Nursing in 1972.

Jane began her nursing at Rochester, Minn., in the pediatric ward for 15 years. After her parents’ death, she moved back to Mitchell.

While in Mitchell, Jane worked at Methodist Hospital. She met her future husband, Randy Strong, at dance lessons and was later united in marriage on March 9, 1990, in Mitchell.

After Methodist Hospital closed, Jane nursed at Salem Nursing Home, Aurora Brule Nursing Home, Storla Nursing Home, Canistota Nursing Home and Firesteel Nursing Home.

She later was employed at I-90 Truck Stop, Walmart, Thunderbird Lodge, Quality Inn, Comfort Inn, the South Highland Travel Plaza and Amstar.

Jane later became disabled and was unable to work.

She enjoyed shopping, reading books, crossword puzzles, yellow roses, angels, hearts and Black Hills Gold jewelry.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Randy Strong, Mitchell; two children: Randy Strong Jr., Mitchell; and Melissa Gabriel Chilel and her husband, Honorio Bernabe, Mitchell; two half-daughters: Brandi Zobel, Sioux Falls; and Tiffany Zobel, Madison; her mother-in-law, Helen Strong, Artesian; sisters-inlaw: Sherri Brummett and her husband, William, Mitchell; and Christy Larson and her husband, Jason, Pierre; brothers-in-law: Wesley Strong and his wife, Sharon, Sanford, N.C.; and Todd Strong and Marty Strong, both of Sheridan; numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sharon; her father-in-law, Dannie Strong; and a brother-in-law.
