Shirley Letcher, Mitchell

Shirley E. Letcher, 86, Mitchell, formerly of Alexandria, died Tuesday, May 9, 2012, at Diamond Care Center, Bridgewater.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1925.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Alexandria.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

To Shirley's family, The world, especially Alex, was a better place with Shirley in it. She and my mom, Vesta Hill, became great friends when Shirley worked at the library. Mom knew how competent Shirley was and pushed her to do things out of her comfort zone. As a result, she made an excellent librarian all those years. Kids loved her smile and gently voice and mannerisms. Adults appreciated that she'd read and could recommend books to them. I remember her coming often to our home where she and mom discussed "library business:. You have my deepest condolences. She was a wonderful person. Fran Hill-Rowen St. Cloud MN
