I met Dave in 1988 when I joined the Eagan Fire Department. Dave had the locker next to mine at fire station 5. Dave was a kind person who spoke highly of people and would help anyone. Dave was a great inventor and made a lot of cool things for the fire department such as a hose roller. Some of the best memories of Dave was watching Dave drive engine 5 while always wearing his fire helmet, (I think he may of watched too many Emergency 51 reruns.) I remember Dave showing up to the station on hot summer days for a fire call as he was responding from his welding shop, to a new firefighter they could of thought that Dave was the call with all of the welding burn marks in his shirt and shorts. I saw Dave just a week before he died at another firefighters retirement and he looked great. At the end of the evening as I was getting ready to leave Dave ended our visit with the same words that he always said "Good Luck To Ya" Rest well old friend and know that you made a positive impact on many, many lives.
