Lois Ina Morken-Reimer, 84, of Pukwana, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Lois Ina Morken-Reimer, 84, of Pukwana, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain. Burial will be in the Kimball City Cemetery in Kimball. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Lois Ina DeHaan was born July 27, 1926, to John and Jessie (DeJong) DeHaan at Platte. She attended school and graduated from Webster High School in Webster.

She attended college in Pella, Iowa, and returned to the Platte area where she taught country school for several years.

On Aug. 2, 1947, Lois was united in marriage to Ray Morken and to this union three children were born: Reta, Peg, and Mike. They made their home in Kimball. Together, Lois and Ray operated Morken Trucking for over 32 years. Ray passed away June 9, 1988.

Lois later married Ralph Reimer on Oct. 5, 1991. They made their home on the farm south of Pukwana.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, and cooking, but Lois especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Together, Lois and Ralph traveled any distance to attend virtually every activity that their grandchildren participated in.

Gratefully sharing her life are her husband, Ralph Reimer of Pukwana; three children: Reta Norris and Billy of Midlothian, Texas; Peg Steckelberg and Don of Chamberlain; and Mike Morken and Carol Steen of Sioux Falls; a stepson, Ronnie Reimer and Sally of Pukwana; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; siblings Leigh Ann Haisch of Mitchell and Andy DeHaan and Alice of Platte; Olive Anderson of Martinez, Calif., Rose Paulson of Colome and Lyle DeHaan of Platte; and a sister-in-law LeeAnn DeHaan of Platte.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ray; a sister, Nellie Ludens; two brothers, Lawrence and Kenny DeHaan; five brothersin-law; and two sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, family wishes memorials be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 314 S. Main St., Chamberlain, S.D. 57325 or Alzheimer’s Association South Dakota Office, 1000 N West Avenue, Suite 250, Sioux Falls, S.D. 57104.
