Dorothy Jean Ochsner, 71, Kaylor, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Church of Christ, Scotland, with the Rev. Gordon Harris officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Scotland. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Goglin Funeral Home, Scotland, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
She was born on June 13, 1939, at Parkston to Henry and Lena (Mehlhaff) Schoon.
She grew up on a farm east of Parkston and attended Fairview School District No. 9.
On Feb. 22, 1959, she married Kenneth Ochsner at Bethany Reformed Church, Scotland.
She was a member of UCC Women’s Fellowship and served as treasurer for many years.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Beverly Ulmer and husband Robert, Tabor; three sons: Mark, Kaylor; John and wife Kim, Hartford; and Ardell and wife Betsy, Jesup, Iowa; nine grandchildren, a sister, Darlene Schoon, Freeman; two brothers: Roger Schoon and wife Donna, Whitewood; and Louis Schoon and wife Ann, Parkston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kenneth Schoon; and a sister-in-law, Erna Schoon.
