Gladys Manger, 93, Kennebec, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Sanford Care Center, Chamberlain.

Gladys Manger, 93, Kennebec, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Sanford Care Center, Chamberlain.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kennebec United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Kennebec Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Isburg Funeral Chapel, Presho, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

She was born on May 16, 1917, to John and Alice (Matheny) Anderson.

She lived her entire life in and around Kennebec. She attended Rose Center country school until her family moved into town, where she attended school in Kennebec.

On Oct. 7, 1935, she married Fred Manger in Chamberlain.

They operated the Phillips 66 gas station in Kennebec before moving to Highway 16 and opening Manger’s Conoco. They spent 26 years there until they retired in July 1978.

She was a member of See Your Neighbor Club, Presho Senior Citizens and Kennebec Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a son, Don and wife Sony, Kennebec; a daughter, Betty Ness and husband Rodney, Rapid City; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Orville Anderson and wife Lola, Murdo; five sisters: Mabel “Mick” Weaver, Murdo; Laura Reuer and husband Bud, Herrick; Lenora Masteller, Pierre; Lucille Crouch and husband Phil, Yates Center, Kan.; and Virginia Slifko, Orangeburg, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and four sisters.
