Marjean Ann “Marje” Neugebauer, 71, Mitchell, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Rapid City.

Marjean Ann “Marje” Neugebauer, 71, Mitchell, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Rapid City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Mitchell, with the Rev. John Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Edstrom and Rooks Funeral Services, Rapid City.

She was born Feb. 21, 1939, at home in Mitchell to Frederich and Alvina (Larsch) Tiede.

She attended rural school south of Mount Vernon through eighth grade. They then moved back to Mitchell, where she attended and graduated from Mitchell High School.

She began her secretarial career in 1957 at Doctors Business Service. She then served as secretary for the Davison County school superintendent. She was secretary at St. Joseph Hospital for several years and a secretary in the New York Life Insurance office.

She was the bus driver for the Head Start program, then worked at St. Joseph Hospital’s Child Development Center. She also worked in different day cares in several homes for years.

On June 16, 1961, she married Marlin Neugebauer at First Lutheran Church, Mitchell.

They lived in Mitchell and both retired in 1990.

She was a member of Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary for 22 years. She was a member of local and state auxiliaries of the National Guard Association of the United States for 35 years, holding many offices.

She was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and Mary Circle. She was a Brownie leader.

She served as treasurer for Ballroom Swingers dance club and was a member of Corn Palace Polka Club for 10 years. She was a member of Palace Promenaders Square Dance Club since 1990, holding many offices.

She was a member of the state and local Good Sam Club, serving as secretary-treasurer.

She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters: Marcie Brumbaugh and husband, Tim; and Marita, all of Rapid City; a granddaughter, a sister, VonDean Smith and husband Keith, Owasso, Okla.; a nephew, a niece and three aunts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law, Dale Johnson; and her in-laws, Herbert and Rosina Neugebauer.

A memorial has been established to Resurrection Lutheran Church, Mitchell.

Marlin, we were so sorry to hear about MarJean's passing. We heard about it from Sid Uptagrafft who had talked with one of Doris' sisters recently. Our condolences to you and your family; you will be in our prayers. Ron & Doris Bender
