Stena Jacobs, 100, Emery, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Diamond Care Center, Bridgewater.

Stena Jacobs, 100, Emery, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Diamond Care Center, Bridgewater.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Emery. Burial will be in Emery Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hettinger-Bittner Funeral Chapel, Emery.

She was born on Dec. 29, 1910, at Monroe to John and Tena (Burma) Peters.

She grew up and attended school in the Chancellor area.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chancellor for many years, where she taught Bible School, Sunday School, was president of the Mission Circle and served on many committees.

On Nov. 8, 1935, she married Fred Jacobs at Chancellor.

The lived in Tea for 41 years, where they owned Jacobs Garage and she served as substitute postmistress.

In 1976, they retired and moved to Emery.

She was a member of Emery First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Fern Decker and husband Robert, Alexandria; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her stepfather, Herman Johnson; two brothers: Henry Peters and wife Magdalena; and John Johnson; two sisters: Ann Johnson and Hattie Jibben Christiansen and her husbands, Thomas and Norman; and two nephews.
